Easy way to install firmware!

Postby jackpasser on Sat May 09, 2009 6:49 am

HI there, at first sorry about my bad english, I`m from China. I noticed that most of u guys use a complex FLASHING PROCESS to install the firmware. such as to use some software on PC. I`m confused, I think there's a more easier way may be u know to do this.

1, Copy the A320.HXF( u should rename it ) file to Disk U , I don`t mean the mini SD.

2, Make sure date of creation and last of modification of HXF file is different from the original one.

3,Turn off A320 ,then hold the Down-pad and turn on

4, Just wait progress bar, it will reset soon

5, Done!

What happens if the date of creation and last modification is before the current one installed? Would it still update to a previous version?

I'm not sure what file disk U is, but that's basically how I've been doing the firmware update. I find that HXF file in the main (root?) area on the Dingoo and delete it, replace it wit the new one, turn off the Dingoo and boot up holding down on the D pad. Says "updating firmware" and then comes back a minute or so with everything installed.
I didn't like the update with the new video codecs because many of my games were running WAY too fast so I did the same proceedure deleting the new HXF file and replacing it with my backed up old file then the power on holding down button again. It all came back as original. So YES it appears you can go back and fourth. I've had no Ill effects from doing it this way. (Disclaimer: do firmware updates at your own risk of course)

JeKel, please explain how you find the HXF file on the Dingoo. After unbricking my Dingoo for trying again to install the freakin' new update, I tried to just copy and paste the new HXF file to get the new update. Went through all the folders and came up empty. Please help.

I can only speak for XP (since that's what I'm running), but can't be too different for others. when you connect the Dingoo to your computer, the internal memory comes up in your "My Computer" section like a removable drive (assigned a letter). just open that drive up and you will see the HXF file (a320.hxf) right in the first window that comes up along with all the folders (like game, record, text, etc.). I back that up on my computer in case I want to reinstall the original one. Then just delete it. copy the new HXF file where the old one was. safely remove hardware and unplugf the Dingoo. turn it off. hold DOWN pad while you hit the power switch, the DIngoo takes it from there.

This might help - the a320.hxf file should be in the root directory.

Here is what I get when I try to open my the Drive from My Computer. (BTW, I have Windows Vista. Not sure which version exactly.)

As you can see, I can't see the HXF file. I tried to explore the entire drive and came up empty. What am I doing wrong to locate this file?

if the current one and previous one have the same date, A320 don't upgrade.
