which tutorial for installing firmware, dualboot, dingux

Postby Sir Edward on Thu Aug 27, 2009 11:36 pm

Hi there,

ordered my Dingoo a few days ago and searched this forum a bit to learn ow to install the usual stuff.
There are many posts for this topic but it would be great if anyone could post a link to a tutorial that includes the newest developements?

In other words: Don't know what to do first, when i get my Dingoo. Shall I:
1 first of all install custom Firmware (which version is the current one) ?
2 does that version include every bugfix existing?
3 which tutorial for installing dualboot linux is up to date?

Thanx a lot, Sir Edward
greets, Sir Edward

well well...

first: update the "official" firmware.
second: instal "custom" firmware
Third: http://dingoo-scene.blogspot.com/2009/0 ... using.html

sorry for the title, but... well... that's about it.

...following the "Complete Idiot's Guide" at that link is a good idea, but don't use the files listed there. You need to go grab the newest version of Booboo's Dual-Boot Installer on the Goole Code Page and use that instead. Also, grab either toddler's or warpedflash's local image with all the pre-loaded apps and current rootfs (toddler's is currently more up-to-date)

Is custom firmware needed if you just want Dingux and native OS? I don't see the advantage.

Just want to point people in the right direction from the beginning w/o adding something that allows a little customization & overclocking.

Dingux is sweet, find the original OS almost obsolete other than shutdown.

Peace
