Tyrian port?

Postby AzureKevin on Mon Apr 13, 2009 12:58 am

I was wondering if it would be possible to port Tyrian to the Dingoo. There's an OpenTyrian project going on that has led to a GP2X version available.

I dont see why someone couldnt port it. Its just that the scene is still in its infancy and the normal homebrew coders seem to be all over the Wiz and GP2X at present. Until they actually purchase a unit or get one for free they are less likely to see the potential in the Dingoo.

Dingoo should offer some consoles free to the dev community and I am sure you would start to see things really take off.

Look what happened when the GP2X got into the right hands. Heres hoping one lands in the hands of Franxis and we can get Mame on it sometime soon :)

Thanks for the informative reply. I'm hoping things do take off; the Dingoo would become the greatest bang-for-the-buck device ever.

It looks like it would take a lot of work since the link provides builds for linux, windows and mac os. I am pretty sure the GP2X is linux based but from what i have read, the dingoo uses its own OS called µCosII. So you would probably need to do port it from scratch or get linux on the dingoo first (which i heard was possible). please dont quote me on all of this, its just what i understand from things i have read.
