Rubido, Initial Version Released !

Postby joyrider on Mon May 11, 2009 11:42 pm

Hey guys,

gotten my dingoo today :)

so i spended the whole evening trying to get rubido to run on the device. (Must have hit that reset button like 10 times :/)

anyway i finally figured it out and got an initial release.

Everything works like the gp2x version, except that your high scores (best pegs left per difficulty) aren't saved yet and there's no volume control.

I included a Readme.txt file in the zip file which contains all the information you need to get you started. If you are to lazzy to read it here's a quick summary :
Button A : select block, select menu etc
Button B : Quit to title screen, Quit game

Aim of the game depends on the difficulty you selected but all difficulties have the same rules being basicly you select a peg, it will turn blue then select an empty spot. Between the empty spot and the peg you selected should be another peg so that the initally selected peg will jump over the "middle" peg and will be removed.

Depending on the difficulty you either have to end in the middle of the board with one peg left or on any location (also with one peg left). And you can "jump over pegs" diagonally, but that's explained ingame as well on the difficulty select screen.

To start playing copy the rubido.app file to your game\3d folder and launch it. It will take around 5-6 seconds to load it. (because of the huge music file).

that's it :)

here are some screenshot :

and here is the download link : (edit: updated download link to latest (final) version)

Nice release. Plays fine and a welcome addition to the scene. Thanks for your efforts so far and hopefully we will be seeing more of your work in the near future.

Hey guys,

I just updated Rubido a bit for the dingoo, and it's got a full final release now.
Here's what's new :
- Changed the button layout
- Added volume controls.
- Volume settings are saved.
- Best pegs left per difficulty are saved.

You can get the final release here :
http://users.telenet.be/IMS/dingoo/rubi ... _final.zip

My real site is actually on a diffrent address being :
http://www.willemssoft.be
but because my rubido dingoo game is a bit big (around 10 MB) i don't want to upload it to my site because my bandwith would be gone within minutes !

cheers.

Most probably yes, it will depend on my mood :) If i'm in the mood i'll start on something and don't stop till it's finished / working. But i haven't actually started on anything else at the moment. I'm also not sure which game one of my games i created for the gp2x (you can see them on my website) will be ported next to the dingoo. I'm thinking about waternet with all the current skins it has although it might be a bit more difficult than rubido. It also takes a bit of time to "convert" everything to the s2d engine, i have to change every call of sdl to a s2d counterpart.

but i'll definatly make some more of my games availible on the dingoo.
